Huawei, BSSN Train 500 Indonesian Air Force Personnel on Cybersecurity

TEMPO.COJakarta - Huawei and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) trained the Indonesian Air Force personnel in cybersecurity. The training was intended to determine the level of digital literacy and introduce the latest cybersecurity technology as an important element in national defense.

This cyber training was held at the Pramanasala Building, Halim Perdanakusuma Indonesian Air Force Unit Command School, and 500 Air Force personnel participated. The training raised the theme of ‘Presenting Digital Trust in the Digital Era.’

Head of BSSN Hinsa Siburian emphasized that digital literacy and cyber security within the Indonesian Air Force are necessary. He believed digital ecosystem stakeholders are responsible for answering today's increasingly complex cyber challenges.

"BSSN welcomes Huawei's intention to share insights to strengthen digital literacy and competence in the field of cyber security. This training should be appreciated because it aims to develop Indonesia's security and defense," said Hinsa, quoted in his statement, Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

BSSN hoped the Indonesian Air Force personnel could understand and overcome security challenges and cyber threats swiftly through measurable early detection.

Huawei Indonesia's Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer, Syarbeni, explained that cyber security is not just a matter of defense but the connectivity between the state’s economic aspects and business continuity. He said there’s a spike in cyber risks as the digitalization era advances.

"Huawei has taken the initiative to establish multi-party collaboration in sharing in-depth digital knowledge that comprises aspects of people, process, and technology," said Syarbeni, quoted from the same press release. "Cybersecurity is the main foundation for forming public trust in digital technology," he added.

The government has recently been facing cyber attacks, the most recent by Brain Cipher that caused hundreds of data at the Temporary National Data Center or PDNS2 Surabaya to be locked and inaccessible.
