Needdem Asks KPU To Collaborate With BSSN To Prevent Leakage Of 2024 Pilkada Data

Researcher of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem) Annisa Alfath assessed that the General Elections Commission (KPU) needs to cooperate with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to avoid data leakage during the 2024 Pilkada.

"The KPU can collaborate with a team of cyber experts, BSSN, and also civil society organizations that have concerns on digital security issues," Annisa said in Jakarta, Monday, September 23, as quoted by Antara.

According to Annisa, the KPU must maintain all data related to election contestation. If the data is easily leaked to the public, the integrity of the KPU will decrease and the results of the regional elections will be questioned by the public.

Therefore, Annisa hopes that the KPU will open itself up to cooperate with government agencies or be independent in strengthening the security of election data.

"There is also a need to strengthen the high-level data security system," he said.

In addition, Annisa also assessed that the KPU needed to take other steps outside the strengthening of the data security system.

One of the steps that Annisa assessed needed to be carried out by the KPU was the separation of data between the identity of voter data and other data related to the Pilkada.

According to Annisa, this needs to be done in order to avoid the spread of population identity data in the event of a data leak during the 2024 Pilkada.

With these efforts, Annisa believes that the KPU and all stakeholders or stakeholders involved can minimize data leakage during the regional election.
