NPWP Data Leaks, Beware Of Fraud Under The Guise Of Tax Officers

Cybersecurity observer from Vaksincom, Alfons Tanujaya, said that the NPWP data that was allegedly leaked on the dark web was valid data or in accordance with population data.

"Then is the data valid? Well, we checked the data, because there are NIK and NPWP, we checked the NIK, the data is valid according to leaked population data," said Alfons on Thursday, September 19.

Alfons believes that the data was obtained from the tax office data. The reason is, the leaked data contains NPWP, KPP data, tax offices, DGT Regional Office data, KLU, business field classification, KLU code, tax list date, PKP status, PKP inauguration, to WP types.

"So on that basis, we say this is a possible leak from the tax office," explained Alfons further.

Given the dangers of this incident and the risk of data exploitation by irresponsible parties, Alfons advised all people to remain vigilant over fraud on behalf of tax workers.

"The data of as many as 6 million taxpayers is sold cheaply for 10,000 US dollars (Rp150 million) and will soon be exploited and used for social engineering, fraudulent activities that falsify as tax officers," his duties.

On the other hand, cyber experts from the Cyber Security Research Institute (CISSReC) Pratama Persadha urged the establishment of a Personal Data Protection Supervisory Agency (PDP) as soon as possible.

According to him, with the sanctions for data managers who experience leaks, it will be able to encourage them to increase the security of stored data.
